When my heart no longer can weep
or lie silent when I’m asleep,
my head turns around, I’m hoping to find
wings to fly from the ground to the sky.

There’s a place, I believe, somewhere in me
overflowing with hope, wishes, dreams,
but I turn away from the glare of dismay
when knowing they’re not here today.

I don’t look down nor into the sky
in case I should happen to spy
the movement of a dream escapee
not meant in the light to be seen.

But night in its way echoes my plea
and I awake too soon to be free
from needs and desires given new life
by dreams of mysterious kind.

In the air of dreams somewhere a queen,
if you’re male, a king it will be
but too in the air is the maker of wings
and the keyholder of our forgotten things.

When I’ve discerned dreams aren’t meant to be
yet still I can hope and believe
my head turns around, I know I have flown,
and that’s enough to warrant a throne!

It was good to read the hope at the end.
We have to keep our hope and faith that things will get better, don't we?
Hugs,

flying doesn't always require wings, my friend.
