Ripe Heart

I’m writing the harvest odeimin
      Kitigan   Abawa
In the valley between the water and the mountain

Sweet rows of silver shadows
Okonas speaks on dusty legs
and paints a picture

    Odoon  Odey

A lullaby
with ancient sound of night not day

The growing time has just begun   yet
they may be gone with the next sun

Odeimin  ote’min gizis
-----------
with apologies for any misuse of Algonquin

Pretty challenging to transliterate any tongue to English pronunciation, but Alqonquin.  At least no one can argue with your spelling.
Nicely done. Ken

The Algonquin Nation, I am sure would be so proud to know someone had an interest such as this.  You should send your poem them.  I bet they would really enjoy this.  This is a wonderful poem.
Enjoyed.

You prove, again, that poetry can be a language unto itself.  Well done!!!
