For my nephew who is in the line of fire everyday. For my brother who is soon to leave. For my cousin who served in the 1st Iraqi war.And to my Husband, Father, brothers, and Grandfathers who all served -- for their patriotism and honor.

Fathers
Brothers
Mothers
Sons
Sisters
Daughters
Dearest Loved Ones
What bravery lies within their hearts
What selfless love they share
And yes the horrors that they see
Yet remember –
They also do much good there
Clean water once again flows free
And hospitals offer needed care
Schools are open to everyone
And merchants are free to sell their wares
These boys and girls
These women and men
Who put their lives upon the line
Deliver more than martial control
They offer a return to a better life
And though fear and sorrow still abound
And anger is often flared
Remember this—
You, left behind
Your soldier dear makes a difference there

Susan,  this is special,  a gift...  May
they all see this and know that they are
loved and not forgotten for the trials that
they daily endure.

Thank You

My thanks and gratitude to the members of your family who have selflessly lived a life of service. I would also like to express my gratitude to those who are presently serving and to those who will be serving in the future. My prayers for the safe return of them all.

A very moving and patriotic write. Your poem also demonstrates the good that can come from
our soldiers dedication and sacrifices.

One great big hero's hug to your whole family!

Thank you for your hopes and prayers.  Though I too oppose war and its tragic impact, and wish for peacful resolutions and solutions, I believe in these men and women who are trying to make something good out of a bad situation.  Thank you for your support.

Hugs,  Susan

Susan,

I am not one to mix politics with poetry, but your poem here is exceptional and evocative.  So much humanity in your words

Thank you ~P
