When I know what I want
and a dream seems real
and a smile resides in my eyes
life journeys ahead unaware and mindless
of how I would like it to be.

When I know and feel love
and my heart pumps desire
and a spark jumps up in my spine
life turns it backward and stamps it down
with muscles I never will own.

When I wake up to the wonder of “me”
and know there’s a reason for being
life calls the tune and leads me in dance
till over my footsteps I fall.

And when I give up and surrender belief
and return to my old comfort zone
life gives me no reason to smile or to cry
or to remain alive and upright.

But life has its way and sets me free
to alone experience fear
and bestows a gift as a token of love
to test my survival through grief.

We all suffer and cry, love till we die,
and fall from our reason for being,
but we never are meant to go back again
to embrace old patterns, beliefs,
for if we don’t learn and turn from the false
we’re dead while alive to suffering, grief.

And I don’t think life will change anything
not today, tomorrow, or even next week,
until we get up, know what we want,
and work like a slave to achieve
and I don’t mean goods, second hand, new,
or a green, yellow, blue, B.M.W.

What do we want and that is the clue
for it must coincide with our needs
and if it can’t match right out of the box,
put it out on the second-hand shelf.

Old times, old loves, outdated beliefs,
pinch and hurt and confine the soul
till it cannot fly above and beyond
life’s treatment of you, me, and them.

It is true, we must leave behind the past which is a prison of past conditioning.  Each step we take from this moment on may lead us upon a new course towards bliss.  Transcend and begin again.

Thanks, passing shadows, Susan, and Martie, for the read.  "Transcend and begin again" but why so many, many, times in one seemingly insignificant lifetime?

I saw a billboard the other day that read,
"Don't ever, ever, ever give up"
Gotta wonder who put that sign up for me!

I hear you Helen, I liked this verse too,
and every good thought you wrote.

But life has its way and sets me free
to alone experience fear
and bestows a gift as a token of love
to test my survival through grief.

Hugs, Honeybunch~

Thanks Bluesy and iliana!  I'm so glad you enjoyed.

To hear is a gift but we turn away in case we are called to atone or offer up love to comfort and hold the person who speaks without sound.
