Deep Forest

I leave behind blue skies,
Sunny meadows, emerald grass,
And enter the deep forest,
Where the light begins fading fast.

'Tis not a path I chose,
But one that I must travel well;
For at the end there lies
A treasure greater than any wealth.

I take a breath and step
Beneath the branches of the trees;
Steel myself against fear
Search for courage in the fallen leaves.

Though the thorns and brambles
May tear my flesh and make me bleed,
I'll walk this path bravely;
My spirit, through the darkness, will lead.

For once I reach the end
I'll find the reason carrying me;
My love, hope, and freedom
All wait at the end there with Thee.

Sometimes we have to walk
the darker path
in order to find the light,
or love...

You took me with you, Terry.
Thank you.

Thanks so much, everyone!  You know how it is when your muse strikes! (In this case, hit me over the head with a frying pan! )

TerryW -- my son is quite a fan of this music and has introduced me to it -- he has good taste.  The poem was mystical and appropro for the times we live in -- I immediately related it to our troops overseas and all the dark forests they now walk.  Thanks for the enjoyable read!  Don't stay up all night now, ya hear!

Terry, there was more than your muse working with you on this divine "hymn"!

this was indeed brilliantly displayed and a wonderful work of art...as reading others thoughts on the purpose and perfection in all things is truly most enlightening.  Thank you for sharing, cannot wait to see the web page.

Terry:
I am quite liking your style and thoughts...
The deep forest an I have a love affair as well.  There is no other path more testing, or more beautiful...or more inspiring.
