Did you know
I don’t believe I have a muse?
Maybe it’s a ruse
I fool myself with
Now and then.
Of course, I hope
I’ll be forgiv’n.
That’s like saying
I’m an atheist when
Not so.
The truth is,
I just write the
Voices in my head.
Tonight
They won’t be
Silent.
I cannot go to bed.
Instead
My ears hear
Words on whispers’ wind,
Haunting stories,
Loveless sin,
Betrayal of family, friend.
I will stay awake;
Bake a cake.  Or
Hunt for nightcrawlers
Under rocks
And rotted wood.
Then
I will fish the gutters
For carp(e) (diem)
and my own words
To silence the screams.

Jo...perfect!
I know this feeling...
and you have to just go with it.

That voice you hear
IS your muse...

iliana, I think those "voices" are heard in every writers
head. Sometimes we listen, and write the words
and then sometimes we don't. But, when we do, it seems
the voices quiet down some. Don't they?

I agree,  that voice rambling within is in
fact your muse...mine has Old Timers disease.

then the voices in your head have been quite a source of inspiration for all of us.

I enjoy your poetry very much.

Keep 'em coming.

iliana,
A few noisy nights i suspect;  glad you got out your pen.  Thoughts of Grandpa came through with your last few lines.  Outstanding meandering of thoughts.  Truly enjoyed.

Loved this.  I once wrote fiction and perhaps will again some day.  There were always character's voices in my head.  Now it's words of poetry.  After years of their absence, I welcome them with joy.

Thanks!  What a perfect verse to keep me company on a night when I can't sleep either!

it's just past five AM and I haven't slept yet...
trust me, I know this one!
Tonight for me, though, I had about three of the voices, and they mixed themselves up enough that nothing came out. Though I probably could have effectively written a poem about sunsets, pb&j, my father, migraines, and the number 29!
Oh well, lol

My gosh! Your noisy night certainly resulted in a fascinating write! I know whereof you speak! I have had a few of them myself in the course of my lifetime!
