You called us morning, noon, and night.
It was an honor to answer and respond.
Your selfless service saved many lives
and eased much pain. Although we carry on,
we are diminished by your absence. God speed,
my sister in service.

In memory of Elaine Stoneburner
Township trustee and dispatcher
for the Polk Twp. Vol. Fire Dept.
who left us on Easter

Lovely tribute, indeed, to a person of very important service! Your words are so powerfully done, that the reader experiences the loss, as well, though I knew her not one iota. Nevertheless, there is an ache in her passing.

I am sure she left
a remarkable trail
in her wake...

A fitting tribute, indeed.

My sincere thanks to all who paused to read this posting.  The title, "Last Call", happens during the funeral.  The main county dispatch broadcasts a final set of "Call Tones" and makes a final announcement concerning the fallen fire service member.  The closest parallel is playing "Taps" at the grave side.
