A Courtroom Carol |

I watch as they walk him down the courtroom aisle, a most reluctant bridegroom to Lady Justice. His hair sticks out like black witches' brooms on either side of his head. Wrapped in chains he clanks like Marley's Ghost, and howls before the judge, his life measured out in five year increments. That night I am visited by three spirits... the ghosts of criminals past, present and future.. and am redeemed. [This message has been edited by dingusjr (05-07-2004 04:37 PM).] |
