The dread eyes are watching me go by, Round and red just waiting for the next cry, Be it hunger or welted skin they wait For another’s cruelty never abate Although out of tears the tormentor won’t sate I can’t but stand and watch the sad brown eye Hoping there is some help in the shadow As they look longing out the dirty window But there is no hoped for intervention No aid for a life lived so shallow That stirs into me deeply this emotion, But I stay shackled by convention. How much is that doggie in the window? I wish I could buy away your fate. Gloom |

Glad I'm not in those shoes! it's good that my eyes are blue, not brown, or I would think this were directed my way! You write with such emotion here. I like what I see happening to the pen. Have a good evening. Sadie |
