The Light of My Life I knelt beside him to wipe away Tears on a face so fine A gentle touch to a much troubled brow As I held his hand in mine. “Son, why cry yourself to sleep tonight And why all these fears; Light of my life… why this restless sleep No need for all these tears.” “Dear Son”, I whispered, “Hush you now I am here to ease your pain To comfort you and hold you safe Before I leave again. I asked God to grant me this time These precious moments few So one last time I could tell you again Just how much I love you. Never think that I’m so far away For I’ll be there anon Cause I am the protector of the light The light of my life…my Son Should you falter on unknown paths Do not turn and run For I’ve vowed to keep an eternal vigil On the light of my life…My Son.” My life on earth is over now Yours has just begun But in the darkness you’re my beacon The light of my soul….My Son.
