Listening to every heart

As a Poet

To stir myriad feelings
daubing colors before you,
as a poet might do, this feat,
with a simple, solitary line
of words
to be heard
if I could
to set thoughts reeling
such as a poet should

O, I would

To splay forth before you
a peacock's feather
by spill of quill
to draw your eye
to the eye of plume
illumined in green of blue
if I could
to set feelings pealing
such as a poet should

O, I would

To cause your eye to seek
new thoughts
and nod your mind as a buttercup
bobs on a spring day
as words should cast
your spirits to fly
if I could
to breathe beneath your wing
such as a poet should

O, I would

To set before you
a state of emotion
so that next you glance 'pon
the ocean
you should feel the crashing waves
taste yet the salt that saves
if I could sail you thus away
such as a poet should

oh I would

To feed you all that you
might desire
cause a craving beset by fires
cause you internally to crave a need
cast before you
pearls of seed
if I could
gift you all this
such as a poet should

O, I would

But mostly, I would set
you to loving,
craving, needing
the word of the poet
the song that he wrote
by way of placing word to note
to cast such feeling
in what I wrote
if I could…

O, I would
O, I would

And don't you think you already do, love? Honestly, you can't be *that* modest, we all give you permission to recognise your genius. We all have.

Light keep you always,

Oh, you do!
Oh, you do!

Your words are as tempting and delicious as Hershey's Pot of Gold!  Absolutely tasty words, so full of much more that alphabet scribble!
