A Ravenous Grey Grey rustled through the leaves that lay on the forest floor. He crept silently from them onto the matted grasses of the meadow. Hunger gnawed at his belly yet it had sense enough to chew quietly. Somewhere, he knew his prey was waiting, unaware, and he needed it to be so. Downwind from the odors of success, he crept surreptitiously forward, His tongue dripping with anticipation, his eyes yellow and piercing. Night was dark, lit only with a sliver of moon, no matter, it helped his cover. When his belly was full again, he would seek the moon at full And howl with delight at its splendor. For now, though, sustenance was the call. Tonight he would have success; luscious nourishment would be his. There, in the inky shadows of the trees, it darted this way, then that. He pounced, held fast the first nutriment in days Grey would not cry tonight from hunger, but with joy. ©January 30, 2004 (I’m hoping you can tell that “Grey” is a lobo.) Whether on the shoal or on the shore, I'll seek the lighthouse evermore. [This message has been edited by VAS (01-31-2004 12:13 PM).] |

Enjoyed...A really good job of taking what might seem tragic to some and turning it into a thing of beauty.Helps me realize alot of life's tragedies are just a matter of perspective...was just through oregon and still impressed by it's natural beauty. Live like it's your last day... |

(big angel hugs) Though I understand it's all "nature's way" as Steve Irwin says on The Crocodile Hunter about animals eating other animals, I do wish they could all be herbivores so no one falls prey to another! (sigh) God Bless You, sweet friend, this is very vicid, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Virginia, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton "You'll find something that's enough to keep you |
