She is Poetess She slumbers on a bed of rose petals, never waiting on a midnight breeze to seize her ivory flame. She finds peace in her name. And I, in awe, not envy take comfort in her sketches of silken secrets, her delicate displays against a canvas of harsher tones. I surrender to her portrait as I trace its origins with my flesh. I believe her. Yet my spirit trembles in knowing I shall never capture her claim. And though I gather petals at dusk and hum lullabies in the dark, I will never have her name. |
