~*~

In a pensive state of mind,
the candle light snuffed out in the dark.
Lacking the luster and dreamless flames,
boarders between old worlds and walls.

Hung haphazardly
without a tangible thought,
like mine, his eyes blur
unaware the room reeks of stale whiskey.

The silence bares a cross
willing time to ease and erase.
Pouring two fingers full
isn't enough to make peace.

My head weighs heavy,
like dead weight in my arms
dropping anchor,
securing the nightmare I dread.

~*~

This one is deceptively dreamy, with an edge of darkness coming way too close.

Grover~ It's more dark than dreamy today, but I thank you just the same.

Thank you Nan~ Variety comes in all forms, eh?

This causes me to ask many questions.  What could have caused such weight and the reeking of stale whiskey.  You've painted a stark picture here, one that shows so much in so few words.   "The silence bares a cross..."
I always end up leaning back in my chair after reading your poems, just taking time to collect my thoughts. They are stirring.

I don't much care to admit it, but it's where I live,
hence, the reason I don't let on.

Thank you for reading, now sit up straight, and not to worry, I'm a big girl!

Hugs for you Sadie girl~

Wow..
I loved the layout of this one.
The dreamy structure
lined with a darker tone.

Well written!

Lori-

This is the reason I return
to this place time and time again,
no matter how busy I am...WONDERFUL!
I've missed your writing and you.
Take care.
Love ya,

The sound of silence calls,
I hear your voice and suddenly
I'm falling, lost in a dream
