Self-imposed exile,
a coward’s hiding place
in a room of too much empty space
and the crowded silent corners within
the inner convoluted mass
I erroneously refer to as
my brain, not much more than
a loosely arranged collection of
neurons synapting out-of-sequence
on days like this.

Yet, here I sit,
comfortable and content
with this arrangement.
For my heartbeat remains strong
in spite of all that is wrong,
and tomorrow might dawn in golden light
after the paling ebony midnight
sheds it’s skin into day.

I look away from the confines of this room
even if it is filled with fond memories, not gloom;
though your feet strayed far away
from this earthly ground,
your heartbeat remained

in surround sound.

and it shall stay that way, i am sure, you
have a strong light that will survive any temporary setbacks that couldnt hold a candle to you

I'm going to hold onto that thought!

This is sad but the strength in
your words comes through loud and clear.

Really nice writing, Kacy~
