Five Second Delay
By: Noah Eaton
3/4/04

(Hey, we have a situation here,
what should we do?)

(Throw on a five second delay!)

(Roger that!)
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
The world is falling,
when I tried to open my mouth,
they turned on the five second delay,
I can't read my own lips...
.
.
.
Yeah, when I carry on the torch,
they gauze up the screen,
my cover is blown,
and it becomes their property,
fifteen minutes of fame,
only thirty seconds to speak,
uh oh, the music is beginning to break in,
just go with what's subtitled under the screen...

I try to spread the word,
halted by that five second delay,
hey hey...
.
.
.
Everything is index-carded,
when will I realize,
actions mean more than words,
when will we have the time to learn,
words cannot seem to get anywhere...

Yeah, while they browse through the muster roll,
the same old rhetorical questions,
what they say absorbs into stone,
the same old media revetment,
What's uncompromising is thrown in the filter,
they think what you think sucks,
the accents are tenderized,
they finagle with your luck...

I try to spread the word,
halted by that five second delay,
hey hey...
.
.
.
The world is falling,
when I tried to open my mouth,
they turned on the five second delay,
I can't read my own lips,
I can't make them out,
uh huh...
.
.
.
.
.
Everything is index-carded,
when will I realize,
actions mean more than words,
when will we have the time to learn,
words cannot seem to get anywhere,
I still try to spread the word,
trying to crawl past,
that five second delay...
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Hey hey!
.
.
.
Five second delay...
.
.
.
Five second delay...
.
.
.
FIVE SECOND DELAY!!!
.
.
.
Ain't that the truth!
.
.
.
"Whoever controls the media,
controls the mind,
it's hard to trust your ears now,
so put on a clean new pair of eyes,
the FCC's pushing radio deregulation,
lobbyists dubbing activist's statements,
our kids infected with the measles of patriotism,
completing the conquest,
STEALING OUR GOD-GIVEN FREEDOM!!!
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.

(How was that?)

(Uh, a little rough along the edges? Care to do the trimming?)

(Would I!)
.
.
.
.
.
(snip, snip snip)
.
.
.
.
.
(All better!)
.
.
.
.
.
(That's my kind of ikabana!)

But if the bright lights don't receive you
You should turn yourself around and come back home" MB20

Good morning, sweet friend! I do know what you mean!

"I try to spread the word" ~ You do more than just "try" to spread the word! You DO spread the word ~ in spite of the 5-second delays!

Loves 'n hugs,
EA

I hear you, in spite of the delay.
Some won't listen anyway, and 5 seconds....well, we all have other ways to obtain the news these days, I don't feel too dependent upon this govt and media.
The world is ours, thanks to the net and people out there who still believe in freedom of speech.
see you in the one second zone
