When the Soul Looks Back There comes a time when one looks in the mirror and sees a multitude of faces looking back. Same eyes, same nose, lips, hair . . . a countenance seen every day, but changed. Others stare back , each an effigy of where we’ve been what we’ve done, how we’ve thought, acted – personas of a life, lived, schizoid reflections begging for prominence from an imperfect singularity unable to believe what it sees . . . when the soul looks back. w. james beard, jr. I'm sure there are many times in one's life that happens...at least in mine anyway, I know. |

Sometimes I look in the mirror and it's a stranger looking back at me. Good poem. Nan (Pilgrim variety) |

when you look back at your reflection, I hope you see what I see kindness, wisdom and warmth all reflected within a great smile |

This touches on both of the parts that feel schizo to me, the way my face looks different, and the way I feel the same, but yet can't be the same. Interesting..touching. Sandra |

Thanks to all who have read and commented - though I seldom respond to comments (use the little time I have to read and comment on others, more so than on who comments on mine), I do read ALL your comments and much appreciate them. To Cat-moon, and all, ....In recent times, actually over the last year or so, I've looked at that face in the mirror that looks back at me and try to compare the changes that have so visibly occured over the last several years (in particular) with the being inside of me that has the "feel" and "belief" of youth and doesn't "look" anything like the physical reflection I see...it's a real slap of reality to see a 60-year old body when I "know" I'm only 20-something inside. |
