Deserted Desert Dreams I use to like the way you held your dreams closely precious grains of sand mixed to concrete a foundation but you let them all slip so carelessly away and without any thought they turned to dust treating the things you once believed in like common dirt to crunch under your feet as you walked upon them to another aimless place in steps unmoved in distance bending every blade of grass a march of green to dry I find no challenge in you and you do not disappoint me you have disappointed yourself while others all the while held your dreams and cried till salty rains poured into the ground you firmly hold I know the level of ground from which I have come and footprints on the surface rumble loudly other layers and that salt and dirt are not a good combination and as you raise and lower your feet I watch and wonder but don’t think anything will ever grow there again "i wish your room had room for two" John Mayer |
