As if intended, set forth grace before my eyes
Arrival through the tangling of lacy arms and spritely reaches
Swelling slightly with new blood, chants of destiny

There I walked, into a new day absent of colors
Thinking as I listened to the froth of spring
Announcements set carefree upon the breeze

And Oh, flash sudden, the notice of majesty
As silent thunder, quick to bound...lifting my eyes
Without horn or hoof but breathlessly beautiful

Slow in their balleted escape...messages
A thorough eight in herd through brambles
Wild across the thicket into blend of trees and scrambles

All this to scrub in withered meadow
Sudden blossom of the promises to come
That burst across my spirit in flash white

I sometimes wish I could stop the car by the side of the road and watch through the fenced farms...

not long ago I saw a herd (?group) of about 20 deer all grazing not far from the highway...something I have never seen that close up before..a calming sight

a pretty poem, TD

When we lived by the lake we had several deer eat corn every night from feeders we had built on our front lawn...

What i like about your poems are the unique word play and visual imagery which this one is a good example of.

I really, really like this.  Having been a wild raspberry and blackberry picker, I identified with the first verse very well.  I like the way you changed your tone--kind of like the breaking of color from black and white in the Wizard of Oz!

they've made their way, and will bring the spring with the grace of their own arrival

Lovely Kathleen..very lovely.
Hugs~

Poetry is not an opinion expressed...
it is a song that rises from a bleeding wound
...or a smiling mouth.
