A Wee Tale ‘Tis a wonder that I wonder Now that March 17 is here Whether that wee bit of Irish link is really in me, as I hear… “You’re a bit of mix,” they said to me When I was so very small ~ “A little bit of this and that, And all subject to recall.” Grandma’am said, “don’t poke your nose Into your long-lost past, For you never know what you’ll learn, Or the shadows that they’ll cast.” I know I’ve a great link to Germans, some Indian, and English blood, too… But on bright days such as this, I smile and partake ~ Irish stew! I hear the lilt within my heart And the sounds of dancing feet, And t’were I to kiss the Blarney stone, I’d think, “now here’s a treat!” I believe there’s Celtic in my blood Which feels so warm and pure, But the pedigree of me is lost, I’m a Heinz 57, I’m sure… But today is the day to wear the green, As each March 17th, I do, So I’ll tip a toast and cheer ye all, Indulging in corned beef, and cabbage too! |

I raising a glass of wine tonight to the Irish - all I can drink. 1/8th Irish - Cahill is one side, but great uncle disappeared after being let out for manslaughter a long time ago and the family changed the name to Smith, Viking supposedly from the Geordie side, Norman - France from the other side, links to the Taylors mining in Cornwall. Yes once you delve, you dont know what's going to come up. Enjoyed your words Dave |
