He dealt with life in his own way, Not knowing often the right words to say. And so he'd tap a random mood to inspire His pen to elicit what his heart desired. Sometimes wisdom would come to fore As he peeled back the laminate to explore His desire to befriend or, perhaps, to ease The pain of rejection in someone else's pleas. The readers of those words he penned Would bless him with encouragement. Sometimes a light heart would come to fore As he sought to write just one more Poem to ease the pain found there That other poets had come to share. The words were light, but still conveyed The caring gestures that he made. Old friends and some new he sought Were the only foils for the gift he brought. In his desire to comfort with literal embrace He somtimes "Welcomed" with too much haste. In the ensuing clamor for poetic reform His intentions were too easily ignored. A line or poem, which when rethought, Could have been changed if the change was sought By a note or request, without attack Or people complaining behind his back. Some readers of those words he penned Instead, publicly sought encouragement. He discovered wisdom as he thought anew The impulsiveness from which his poems ensued Could harm another kindred soul, Though that had never been his goal. The only course left open, he realized, Was to encourage those with loudest cries To seek amendments with hastened requests Quietly, and with the same respect That some readers of those words he penned Would seek from his encouragement. |

Your words come across as gentle as a summer breeze. The tenderness captured and spread about these delicate blue pages. Love Bon-Bon |

Well, so you luck out and come up with a good one now and then....So what?..Anyone as old as you are should have enough experience to come up with a good one now and then? Nice write Sailor...you'll never cease to amaze me.....(or bash me) |

The soup was good, Toe, but the wine was Raid '97, a very good year by the way. It's always a pleasure to spend quality time with friends. When that's not possible I invite LongJohn WHenever I'm with the sailor and his lovely wife Lorelei I have to keep reminding myself how rotten he is to me in his poetry 'cause he's so nice in person!! Come back, soon, LJ. SOmeday we'll get the retard to join us.... |

Seems quite radical to use pesticides on your buddies. So it has come to this, huh? Lace mine with rose preserver, dear Balladeer. And LngJhn, when are you two going to visit me. It's not that far, you know. This poem means so much. Thank you for posting these thoughts. Liz |

Excellent story, seeming so life-like in this place. You're really amazing at your poetic wording...I love the rhyme scheme you choose to pen in. It suits you...and pleases us... McLean |

He discovered wisdom as he thought anew The impulsiveness from which his poems ensued Could harm another kindred soul, Though that had never been his goal. How could your words hurt another? You are always kind, positive and extremely "encouraging" with your replies. You even find civil words for Toerag and Balladeer. This is outstanding writing...one to be read over and over. Thank you for sharing it with us, LJA. |
