Gone, like the cold, tap, tapping of
Wind on screens of glass
Gone, like the old, drip, dripping of the
Closed water tap

Trapped into obeisance with wooden clapboards strong
Or shut off completely at the spigot’s main prong

Gone, with hopes and dreams aplenty…
Forever shattered
Gone, with no recourse to reclaim…
As if it never mattered

Marrow-less bones of hurting solitude remain
Leaving only distance, handling only pain

Write the second words

The first cry out for them
