Restless ravens sit atop yonder spruce trees,
as bald eagles boldly soar upon the afternoon breeze.
I am on grounded knees in envy of their freedom
to fly above the misty mountains
and o’er the white capped waves of the canal.
They do not intend to mock me, yet they do
with their determination and resolve,
their spirits unhindered by mundane daily nonsense.
The weather-beaten hands in my lap
reveal I have not experienced the feel
of a satin pillowed pampered past,
but I have no regrets.
Well, perhaps one.
But looking back at the rugged shoreline,
I must admit
I did not have the surefootedness needed
to walk the landscape of love with you.
I have resigned myself to sit
and watch the ravens and eagles,
knowing in my heart
my spirit totem is
the loon.

I can see your picture in my mind

Diving, swooping, soaring playing with the sky

Dixie, I had to let mine discover me.

Dave, yes, they are swooping as I write.

I would imagine mine's the Doo-Doo bird.
Kacy?  I believe you can fly...

Kacy:  I believe you can fly, too, and you have.  You belong here!  This is a lovely, insightful write, my friend.  ~K~

You capture the freedom of the wilderness so very well...
Would love to look upon these visions, and get a glimpse through your works.
Nice write.
