Yasgur's Treehouse
By: Noah Eaton
3/6/04

We were looking for a love-in,
in the early summer morning,
bellbottoms and birkenstocks,
come trotting down Route 17B,
peppermint swirl smiles,
orange popsicle heatstroke cheeks,
I said, "Hey, I know a place,
where's it happenin'!

In Yasgur's treehouse,
we can feel the chakras from afar,
from the gongs of Gamelan Sekar Jaya,
to the sitar of Ravi Shankar,
hop onto the crash pad,
and do the strobe-light shimmy,
so come on in and join the recollection Woodstock,
let's get the rainbow gathering going...

There were boys in Nehru jackets,
girls in bangles and hip-huggers,
children playing beach blanket Bingo,
bosom buddies waddling in the corner,
singing, "It's the patchouli shimmy,
yeah, the patchouli shimmy,
that keeps getting us centered,
deeper and deeper and deeper and deeper
into harmony.

"Go with the flow!",
"go with the flow!"
Sway, kundalini,
lay it on me!
"Go with the flow!",
"go with the flow!"
Sway, kundalini,
lay it on me!

We were looking for a love-in,
in the early summer morning,
where we saw a white school bus,
parked on the shoulder of Route 17B.
I said "Hey, let's go camping,
right there on Max Yasgur's farm."
let's beat a drum,
and follow me on the pilgrimage to rock and roll mecca...

In Yasgur's treehouse,
we can feel the chakras from afar,
from the gongs of Gamelan Sekar Jaya,
to the sitar of Ravi Shankar,
hop onto the crash pad,
and do the strobe-light shimmy,
so come on in and join the recollection Woodstock,
let's get the rainbow gathering going...

Shine, shine, shine, Sahara's Sunshine...

.
Rise, rise, rise, Sunflower Sunrise...
.
.
.
Dream, dream, dream, Seagull Dream...
.
.
.
Sing, sing, sing, Ocean Lily...
.
.
.
Fly, fly, fly, Dancing Butterfly,
fly, fly, fly, Dancing Butterfly...

fly high,
fly high,
fly high,
fly high...

"Go with the flow!",
"go with the flow!"
Sway, kundalini,
lay it on me!
"Go with the flow!",
"go with the flow!"
Sway, kundalini,
lay it on me,
here in Yasgur's Treehouse...
.
.
Far out!

Noah,

Been there, did that, wanting to do it AGAIN!  LOL!  Thanks for the memories.

It was a special age, but not one I'd like to repeat, for those, like myself, who I'm sure will understand.  Even so, gotta tell ya, the music was a whole LOT better back then.

Noah, meant in a good way, you're a hippie at heart, one I will always be.

The stars will shine when I am gone,
the earth will turn on as before,
the gulls, still race along the shore,
the morning star, still kiss the dawn

Dancing in a rainbow dress, garlands of flowers in my hair, sweet aromas in the air....yes, I enjoyed this memory, and would do it all over again.
Peace to you, Noah.

Noah
Being a child of the sixties I have a great appreciation for this piece....Fine selection of pictures and that strong feeling of breaking away that was felt in that time frame...A time when new things were imagined, and so by, upset the conservatives of that time, who are now (as always) been afraid of change...
Good job

Noah you brought back so many memories with this one!
How do you know so much about the 60's?
This had me rockin in my seat.
Love this keeper.
Peace!

Loved it! Gosh, you rattled my tree! ~ and now I have the urge to light up some patchouli incense!

Loves 'n hugs,
