Let me die
beautiful
amid the sanctuary
of sea,
in a shroud of
luminescent light
the sparkling sands
wrapping silk slippers
round my naked feet,
with contenance fair
pure as unpainted bisque,
my voice,an aria
on a goddess's ruby lips,
golden spirals flowing,
in a cascading mane,
a trellis for butterflies
and baby's breath,
in victorian lace
a covered bride
about to be caressed,
soft as a lullabye
of the breeze
that blows
the ocean's breath,
as i surrender these
weary shackles
and return
to my birthright
left too long
in remiss

Nice but your beauty while very nicely packaged on the outside, shines from the inside. Good write

"Gather ye rose-buds while ye may,
   Old Time is still a-flying;
And this same flower that smiles today,
    Tomorrow will be dying."

Pay no attention to this, Herrick was trying to get this gal to marry him....

I love the look of some older women, something wise is in their features...A wisdom beyond surface cosmetics makes the older women more beautiful to me than the plastic ego skin of many younger women, give me honesty and acceptance of numerical position over this anyday...and those that can express themselves through language, I give a little extra checkmark on the desireables list...

I am sure you will die "beautiful" no matter what your age...

this was written well
and tastefully done,
visions left to tell
of a setting sun

but with that day gone
shadows overwhelm,
reaching for the dawn
reliving your realm

even in passing
such words carry gold,
breath's everlasting
still finding their hold

Oh God love Ice...

Never fear age, Michelle...
it's the gathering of wisdom
along our way
that lets us leave a legacy...

Wonderful write, dear Michele. Your soul is already perfectly adorned ...
Which does not mean that time has come!

Very nice.  Really shows how your mind works....though hopefully not thinking of death too much....we'd miss you too much!

"on a godess's ruby lips"

Inky, this is my favourite poem of today.  It is truly magnificent.  Your big heart shines through in the idea of the poem and your poetic beauty shines through in the descriptive part.  Every line in this poem was special.

I wish we could all go that way, but perhaps not today!!
