At the onset of motherhood And the loss of education Strong hands nurture and toil And so tenderly love As years pass, her body wearies And her spirit weakens And one day, the rose of her grandmother Fades and withers Fear jolts her awake And courage begins to stir And in quick work Wakens her soul Three years of high school And four years of college Before her goal is complete Before they can move on Still her strong hands nurture Relentless she toils And reckless she gives All I can say Is Lady |
