Was It A Dream? I dreamt the fondest dream the other night, A dream I doubt could ever be surpassed. And suffering delusions of delight, I languished in the spell the dream had cast. It must have been a magical charade, For you and I were there in paradise. Unhampered by demands so often made, And free from foolish fears and sad advice. We ate and talked and laughed and loved and cried, We smiled and joked at feeling so relieved, And while we could we savored love denied, Abiding in a world our hearts conceived. If only life could replicate these themes, I wouldn’t have to love you in my dreams |
