The Winter Before Through the storm tempered windows I stare As the cold front creeps over the snow covered mountains Slowly laying a fresh blanket of ice over the evening shore; The sun would soon hide under the warmth of the horizon And time the fragile child would reach out to my heart Where solitude and old memories reside… I remember the long walks on the sand in December As the frothing waves of the sea washed away our existence, Hand in hand our love was the envy of those lonely Sirens, Whose songs of tragedy and loss Would inevitably one day come to pass. But for now our ears hear only the silence of love, Those sweet unspoken words between a man and woman That refuse to age even as the heart dies slowly… The crackling fire across the room brings me back to the present, As snow flakes outside slowly descend on the night, But my love for you darling will ascend to the Heavens above As I reminisce of the winter before. Wow!!! Very impressive. Made me think about my continued courtship of my wife. It's an everlasting feeling once you fall in love. All your memories are good, even the bad ones. Garfield |
