“BROKEN HEARTS LANE” by Bill Charles ~~~~ My head was bowed when I walked away from you into the night, yet my thoughts were heavy in surrender and I dare not look back but I did, and the moonlight embraced upon a silhouette as you stood on the corner of Broken Hearts Lane and Lost Dreams, and stared back in return with a look I once treasured… We stared with the eyes of broken lover’s through the haze of the mist as a spring breeze came forth, tears rode on it’s back to caress your lips and ones came back in return to touch upon my face… The darkness came suddenly within the mist and you slowly vanished from my eyes into the night as the moonlight disappeared into the void, and you were no more, and when you were gone I walked away from the mist and forlorn moments that once was at the corner of Broken Hearts Lane and Lost Dreams… ~~~~ |

I know that corner... finding it's all too easy, but your feet seem glued in place once you get there... you've described it well. |

Bill, this is so sad and yet so beautiful. As I read your poem, the scene from The Sound of Music came to my mind...the one where Maria and Capt. VanTrapp were in the gazebo in the moonlight. Unfortunately it moved on to a very happy ending unlike your sad story here. But maybe there is hope...you will either find peace from the pain or you will rekindle the love that you feel has left you. This was a very touching write. Bravo, Bill. Youngatheart |

"The darkness came suddenly within the mist and you slowly vanished" The ones who vanish suddenly in life, always vanish slowly in dreams! This is a very heartfelt poem. You write about love so beautifully, I'm really liking your poetry. Wonderful ^*Kim*^ "Theres no posession, just obsession and growing depression" |

BC I know that corner well. Your description is very visual including the broken heart that never seems to heal. Ariana |

Beautiful, melancholic write, dear Bill. It's good to know that broken hearts do heal though ... but there are those moments when the light seems to go out and time stretches painfully. Love, Margherita |

That last paragraph was really something. The entire write was but I suppose the way you bleeded it together was just superb. Enjoyed lots, thanks Bill. |
