With Will and Compass Broken |

I used to walk a golden shore somewhere in my youth. Paved by light of midday sun, by night in midnight moon. I paid no mind to tide nor time, nor stars upon the sea. My feet set firm in golden sand, they did not call to me. Apart we were both searching, we had no pact, no bond. But together we were like the rocks that all waves broke upon. So imagine my surprise when the sea light caught my sight My eyes beheld a clipper ship, lost within the night. I swam out to her starboard side and climbed about her bow, Behind me was my golden shore, lost in view somehow. With every bridge this ship would burn, each harsher than before, The harder would be my return, so I left forever more. I paid my dues, and served in blues, and went out for my Pac, I did not know from friend or foe, so I did not turn my back. When finally I did realize the trouble I was in, I found the course to hard to change, the sea to vast to swim. With will and compass broken, and lost within the night, I tossed my senses overboard and thus, gave up the fight. I fell down on her decks, and in my dream I dreamt, The waves had overtaken me and sent me to my death. When I awoke, I was aboard the clipper ship no more, But lying safe in golden sand, back on my golden shore. Now on my feet and thankful for the warmth upon my face, How long had I been drifting, minutes, hours, days? I searched for you, both here and there, and to my knees I fell. My decision had forsaken me, and I must wish you well. And in my haste to harbor all the misery I took in, I buried my heart in the sand, and went back for a swim. With breathing but an option, my days filled with despair, I longed again for golden shores, and hopes of true love there. Now that I have grown a bit, I search the sand again Looking for that broken heart I buried deep within. But sifting through my golden sand, has taken me some time, A part of me gone missing, the only part that’s mine. One day I will dust it off, and know that I have learned, The you and I we were, is dead, the me I am returned. Soon I’ll walk another shore, and it will become clear, That I am once again at home and hope I’m welcome here. |

Fantastic story - well written too. I enjoyed the flow, and the way you linked everything together so very well. |

Terrina, Yes! It's great to see a post again. I think we've been passing in the scrolls. I told ya back then, I liked your thinking. Guess what? That hasn't changed one bit! Your writing had great imagery then, and now it seems to have matured into even better writing! Enjoyed |
