Ode to My Barbie You remind me of dear childhood days Hair and cheeks glowing under sun's warm rays My best friend Elaine and I had fun Braiding your hair into a lovely li'l bun Those nasty boys next door told us Barbie dolls ain't no good at all They're lacey and frilly and too much fuss But Elaine and I, our eyes would just roll One day, Elaine came to me "I can't play with dolls anymore," she said I went home wondering and with my eyes red Elaine had believed what those nasty boys said I didn't see Elaine for quite some time So I decided to pay her a visit When I knocked, she wasn't there No, I couldn't find her anywhere Will you be like Elaine, Barbie? Will you leave me someday? Don't throw that questions back to me I know true friends should always stay. |

OhJasmine~ This one just brought memories flooding ... my now grown daughter still has that toy chest full of her Barbies ... and slowly they will make their way into the playful hands of my granddaughters ...~ I'm going to send my daughter this one ... she will be as touched by it as I am~ *Huglets* ~*Marge*~ ~*When the heart grieves over what it has lost, |

This was very different from what I usually read in this forum. But I think that it's a very good different. It was a cute concept with a sad ending...I can envision a small girl so upset that her friend left her, confiding in her Barbie. That was a great write. Thank you for sharing it. ~J.Lynn *¤§¤*You are born helpless...and you die helpless...*¤§¤* |

this was a very interesting poem. a theme can be expressed from any one of several sides, and this was a very unique avenue you chose to do it with. I like it a lot...good job. Jeremy Be it in the truest form, or a desperate lack thereof, fail not to understand that the inspiration is love. |
