The emotions behind this poem are obviously very strong. I can tell you love someone very much |

I appreciate your asking for assistance. I feel a bit odd commenting in the teen section since I'm an old man but wanted to perhaps guide you to some websites that may be of service. Yes, the emotion overflows here but should be contained a bit. Poetry, I believe, is more effective if the reader has to work (just a little) for the meaning. Anyhoooo.....here are some websites; http://www.onlinepoetryclassroom.org/index.cfm Don't be intimidated by this one. Shakespeare is a very good place to start a poetic education. His vaunted sonnets are explained in detail in understandable language, line by line; http://www.shakespeares-sonnets.com/icomm.htm This was a project instituted by former U.S. Poet Laureate Billy Collins. It is aimed at High Schoolers; http://www.loc.gov/poetry/180/p180-list.html Dana Gioia (pronounced joy-ya) uses everyday language in his work. Go mid-page and to the Univ. of So.Cal Santa Barbara site and watch his presentation there. http://www.danagioia.net/index.html For that matter Billy Collins is total fun....look him up here; http://www.poets.org/index.cfm The last sight has an audio section. It helps to hear them read by their authors. Good luck. |
