As the night begs the day for mercy, We endure a cruel coldness, Our joints stiff, Our anger pulsing, racing, Our jaws tight from the rage we suppress, Because no one likes it when we express, Even though they tell us to, We stay silent, eyes darting left and right, Hands twisting under our sleeves, Biting our bottom lip so hard it bleeds, And the ruby liquid falls deftly down our chins. It’s so cold. I’m chilled to my bones, And the familiar faces, The same old faces, No more traces, Of hate, we are all brought together, At the same old places, The familiar places, But no one knows what to say. There are no words for what we want to cry. We stay still like statues, Or at least I do, My hands by my sides, My eyes closed, willing tears to come, But they don’t, I’m here with them, But they are there and I am here, Trapped. The satin is warm by my bones, I’m frozen still but warm, And the familiar faces, Are fading phases, The worn out faces, Are uttering good-bye, Can’t we retrace the steps we took? So I could say good-bye too? And my jaw would only be stuck with anger, Not coldness. "Why are my visions so unliving with dreams? And why do I no longer care?" - Stygian |

lol i saw a lot of 'mad world' influences in that one. good song, good lyrics. i liked. It kind of reminded me of a funeral, where people get together once again to join in their sadness and then go back to their lives. LOR "It would make those who listen to it doze into a land of rivers, kund fu and unicorns, eventually making the listener pe is his/her pants - Brandon B |

This touches on something i think a lot of people do...the biting of lips and holding of tongues and standing still suppressing rage...enjoyed. |

Yes yes yes, 'Mad World'was a starting point to this poem, I'm not denying it. Thank you for your replies...and it was meant to be a bit of a funeral type thing. The funeral of the person telling this poem. "Why are my visions so unliving with dreams? And why do I no longer care?" - Stygian |
