Private Darkness When the dense oily shadow descends on me I can find no escape, no comfort The blossom of hope is snatched away visciously And my heart bleeds fear The shadow suffocates my light and steals my dreams Wringing every drop of hope and pleasure from life An impossible weight drags and buries all energy So far beneath memory, it might never have been I try to flee when i feel its ominous presence But there is no hiding place Fear grips me and freezes me to await Inevitable annihalation of my will There is no escape no sanctuary The womb that once protected me has gone So i curl my body foetally anyway and wait ................. |

I really like the opening lines where you described the darkness as an oily shadow, like something that seeps over you and suffocates. Your images, descriptions are dark and very moving. Very evocative write. |

Oh, this is so sad to live in fear of something that may never happen. Hugs, Maggie |
