no room in the parking lot on my way to Church the cab driver said I was his first fare all morning and he wouldn’t be able to make the car rental politely even Christianly I felt compelled to say that things should pick up for the Holidays no he said they are buying gifts six hundred dollars on the average should make us happy that one religion at least is paying for itself but he wouldn’t be had nobody to give to this was the moment this quadriplegic of the lonely was supposed to raise paraplegic goose bumps of gratitude all over me but I didn’t feel the expected rush from meeting a love cripple in the company of misery my courage rather Scrooged to the sticking place by the thought that thank God Christmas comes at the end in case I don’t survive |
