Please note:  Inspired by the Title of a recent poem

It's been a long time since I offered you my regards
I've opted to smash you and find myself in the shards
to hide behind a mask of cynical myth and story
preserving for myself the passion and the glory.

I drank you dry of inherent purpose and meaning
and left behind a realistic remnant for others' gleaning
cutting myself away from social norm and vice
allowing the real world but the smallest slice.

Thus with these parting words I give you my regards
and offer you assurance that you might not worry
for from your indifference I've no intention of weaning
provide me free will and that will more than suffice.

And what a beautiful poem it turned out to be. Great job.
