Was it fair, was I destined to peer in from the out? I thought I stopped straddling the fence By now both feet should be on the other side I even stopped praying every night for the wishes that would never turn into dreams In an effort to be a decent being I get the wrong end of the stick Maybe had I had known you never walk in with a smile on your face Maybe than I wouldn't be the one watching and wishing false hope In my dream I was a helpless mantel The smiles tossed back and forth amongst them while I stand back dying I was not good enough to have the same Were you so brainwashed not to honestly see the truth behind their mask I laid my whole life down before you, never was it taken If there is such a thing as a higher being Why am I standing here alone while everything is taken away from me? And while I cry out I get no help in return but silence and a stoned heart Day in and out I wake going on with my life erasing everything that Makes me woeful, putting everything I lost behind me At night I’m mocked with laughter as it is all brought back to me In my dreams, as if I haven’t suffered enough over time I stand back hopeless and watch as you run through that door Never to look back at me again as the words of promises escape your lips I swallow my pride erase the pain once again I hide inside Words of truth escape my lips as you disappear behind closed doors “Take care of him please like I would have “I say to her She looks back smiles, than continues on her journey of the life That was once mine I do not need shine or wealth, just a pen and some paper for my health |
