JUST A BOOK
.
As you drag your fingernails across each ridge

You can feel the indentations where she had forced the pencil to the paper

So many years ago

With each swipe of your finger the ridges lost their edge,

The valleys crumble and history vanishes

You knew with each passing what you were doing

Yet could not help yourself

To feel her touch of so many years ago was too much to ignore

Then suddenly there was no more

You couldn’t help but cry with the loss.

As page by page

Your mother

Slipped away

Her childhood book

Filled with childish angles of blues and greens

Now after 50 or more years lay smudged

Her actions ruined

Your heart lay heavy

Your selfish desires have taken forever

Her moment in time

Leaving just a book

She wrote in once

With not a true marker left

To tell of her being

The last book you knew she had

No more of her belongings you have

Lost now

As is she

Once God decided

The day she was taken

The day the vultures came

As the dust cleared you were left with a book

Filled with childhood scribbling

For your fingers to caress

To destroy

Leaving just a book

She wrote in once

Wow seeker... better than usual (and that is saying a lot!)

What a way to wake up! hehe

As always, I adore you... well alright... I want you for your words

Our scars are the foundation for what we have become

I'm sorry SEA, didn't mean to make it too dark but I'm glad you liked it.

MM... I'm stunned!! you only want me for my words?

I feel so violated.. ;-)

As always thank you for your feed back, means a lot.

Jack Daniels gourmet coffee
and along comes this poem
that hits me to the core of
my heart very well done and
very sad I had to fight crying

The_Nameless_One. Thank you for reading am glad you liked it.

It's a strange poem really, not written in a dark form yet became darker than a midnight shadow when I finished it.

This is really a sad poem! I had to get out the tissue box. Well done for letting the emotion come through your words and come to life!

I am in complete and utter awe. To be able to evoke so much emotion is such an amazing talent you have.
By the end of this poem I felt such a need to talk to my mom and reassure myself that she was still there because I have no clue what I would do without her.
Wonderfully done and extremely heart wrenching.

Wow!  my tips stood helpless as tears rolled down.  I can't say how I felt as I read the poem... Many thoughts sealed within words, and a lot of feelings are stuck in my throat.  I read a lot of your poems, but I tell you this is one of the best, if nnot the best of all...

Thank you for sharing...

If only every mother could leave behind a book so touched by her hands to give back to their child what will be missing when they are gone~~
