I sail past the lighthouse in a blue rubber boat to a place on the sea where the wind stills and quiet springs up with mothering arms. A cast away orphan in the dark coat of grief, I drift inconsolable through shifting perspectives, whirlpools of light, waves of confusion. I never asked much - a cup of compassion, half teaspoon of truth, thimble of hope, a small measure of kindness from your better loaf. Shadowy pale, I circumnavigate the steel long bones of night, sing for the morning and names written on water that pass out of sight. The cycle completed, our words for each other submerge under waves of insignificance into dark waters of uncompromising silence where the memories will remain untouched. Truly remarkable, a beautiful tale of solitude. -TW "One last drink and the bottle breaks, returning us to the dust from whence we came" |
