did you choose it willingly your life in solitary rooms of mindless chores that kept us at a distance as you dreamed of the world before your days were spent bleaching linen, a magdalene pinning it out in the cold air of your perpetual winter? did you know the role that came with the bridal veil would smother the roses of creativity covering the fragile walls of your sanity with dickinson like poetry that comforted you in your motherless childhood? did you not see her footsteps in the shadows you chose to follow as you crossed the bridge to self-destruction or in the innocent eyes of your children, the stones you were leaving them, a legacy of guilt and fear on which to build their own history of solitary rooms? This is good, Jen. You wrote it like you've lived it. Love it. |
