WHEN ONLY A FATHER WILL DO....

With time it gets easier,
some might say.
I just can't see it.
I can't deal today.

A girl needs her Dad,
at certain times in life,
but you're no where to be found.
It cuts like a knife.

Milestones keep passing,
got noone to be proud.
You put me on a pedastal,
now I'm another face in the crowd.

You told me the 1st time you held me,
I starred into your eyes.
You felt as if you may drop me,
instead from then on you've helped me rise.

You told me I was beautiful,
as I stood before my mirror.
It was my 1st day of teaching,
stained with tears of fear.

You gave me what I needed,
when I was knocked down to my knees.
Words of wisdom, inspiration...
My father to please.

Where do I go from here?
Who can I turn to when I bleed?
How can I make my mark,
when my father is what I need?

I miss you Dad!!
I still think about you everyday!!

I can't really relate to this, because my dad chooses not to be in my life, im sorry for your lost though, and the poem is absolutely beautiful.

I was drawn in by the title and held spellbound by the write. Some ironies for me: my daughter was a teacher and died four years ago at 28 years of age. Your dad was born the year before me. I am truly sorry for your loss. But it seems his memory lives through you and he would be exceptionally proud. I wish you peace, strength, courage and hope.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.
