In the semi-darkness, she bears the silence she has plunged herself into, wishing she can evaporate and melt into the shadows poised to swallow her. She weeps without tears in the prison of her own head, She, a phantom figure, ghostlike and shrouded in half-light. She pushes back memories that would not be dismissed, though she slams the shutters of her mind, and retires into her own private space. She finds no solace in the cold lordly gloom, her demons crowned with inordinate beauty, consecrated with the dignity of her attention. If only she could hurt her body, then she would not notice the coming apart of her soul. But memory had become regent and the keepsake of nightmare. Perhaps within her stillness and solitude her spirit would begin to heal itself. |

But memory had become regent and the keepsake of nightmare. Perhaps within her stillness and solitude her spirit would begin to heal itself. A tiny beam of light in a aria of darkness. It's all about holding on. Good poem. |
