Couldn't find a place to say hi. So hi to all.

I GAVE

I gave you food when you were hungry

You gave me dishes to wash

I gave you water when you were thirsty

You gave me cups to clean

I gave you knowledge when questions were asked

You gave me ignorance at a glance

I gave you a place to call your own

You gave me holes in the walls

You gave me doors no longer left

I gave you work when few would

You gave me hollow words and broken tools

I gave you support, believing in the future

You gave me nothing to fall back on

With tear stained eyes you asked for love

I gave you…… nothing

Christopher~
Welcome to PiP ~~

Your poetic emote says so much about a relationship when one takes and gives back nothing~

Excellent step into this poetic circle~

I loved this poem. We have all been in the type of relationship it describes. Keep writing.

Thanks unholyjudgement.

Love is the hardest thing to give, I'm tempted to write the follow up the this poem.

Its good to finally stop giving to someone who will give nothing back. It's ok to take a little as long as your giving a little back. But no one has to always give.

I’m good during the day. But at night I wait.I wait for the one who’ll never return.

Hey doll... once again a perfect window into so many of our lives.

Our scars are the foundation for what we have become

Thank you both very much.

MM it's sad that most people encounter this at some stage in life... maybe it's just a part of personal evolution.

Extremely well done! It is very true that this applies to almost everyone at some point in their life. We all just have to learn how to best handle it.

MD... your cousin is my stepson?  No...I'm just being facetious...because of a situation I had with my cousin.
