As I was walking to my car, I really saw winter, for the first time I think. It made me think of a rather brutal break up I just recently went through. This is my random musings on the subject. Autumn leaves, vibrant and beautiful Yet haunting and somehow frightening Foretelling winters cold grasp The wind blows The leaves so dry and crisp Scrape along the unforgiving pavement Fragile, so very fragile Eventually crushed, left to natures cycle Left to nourish next Springs growth Essential death, totally encompassing The sky turned gray Swallowed by envious clouds Suppressing memories of summer suffocating happiness Dead moss clings to dry fingers Frozen by pain Cruel wind billows mist Fine and fleeting, blowing in my face Like old memories, refusing to die Tearing and scraping at once warm flesh I look to Spring To a new beginning Yet winters frigid claws sink deeper Freezing me in isolated loneliness Wistful memories of summer past Daring thoughts of summer ahead Distracts only for a second The mist tears The cold bites The pale moonlight tantalizes Dim and unsatisfying Mocking summers comforting embrace Everything calls to me Stay and sit with us Cry with us Wallow with us A glimpse of Spring A fleeting hope Nothing but a back turned A hope lost Such a beautiful hope Such a beautiful Spring Alone again, I must push Winter pulls but I must push I will find a smile I will feel laughter I will hear happiness I will taste contentedness I must fight winter I will find a Spring |
