It does not do to dwell on Dreams Forgetting to live while thinking up schemes No mater the twinkle it brought to your eye You have to move forward or shrivel and die The hardest thing to do in your life Is give up that hope and cherish your strife The man who has everything he could desire Has no need to grow or cause to aspire Problems, adversity do not dig a hole They offer a looking glass into the soul So greet your problems and give them a grin The chance for some growth is about to begin For this your time, your one true test To rip of your mask and become your best [This message has been edited by Bobomo (09-21-2006 04:09 PM).] |

What can I say for this except wow. There is so much truth in this, especially the idea that one can learn from ones ordeal, and not dwelling on dreams. Being guilty of the latter, I cannot help but wonder how to live in a more appropriate fasion; that is to say, how does one find the mean between living in the past and living for the future? |

Tom Peters who writes alot about business was quoted in a book I read as saying "Problems are my friends." I loved this idea and I think you really brought it out here. What you say couldnt be more true! With the straightforward lesson of the poem going on - I was really surprised by the "rip off your mask" part - which added a whole other slant to the moral being presented. A nitpicky change I might make is drop the 'your' immediately before strife and immediately before life in the third stanza. Thanks for this real pick-me-up! Burnt Siena |
