At the horizon, An illusion of an oasis, Gives me hope to take a few steps more, But the shrapnel, They have a plan of their own, And you never know what they have in store. In the desert land, Deserted, I stand, Alone, Fighting this unwanted war… At the horizon, I see some friendly Bedouins, Gives me hope to take a few steps anyways, But the war zone, Has a plan of its own, Like those mines that take my legs away. In the desert land, Deserted, I stand, Alone, Fighting this unwanted war… My stupid conscience, My damn ethics and discipline, None stand a chance, In this non ceremonial burial ground, The sandstorm pours over, Keeping me six feet under. |
