The Funeral Oh see how comes the zoo man; comes, torching hair from off the elephant’s back… The buttresses shore up stone-thin walls where They come; led by, leading monkey suits, the suits with stained glass eyes… …how comes the zoo man; comes, torching hair… …while It rolls by, with stained glass all around and Chevy emblem blatant on the long black… …the hard to leer at hair from off the elephant’s back… …the rows where soft walk ushers, rows where walk soft ushers, monkey suited, eye red ushers… Oh see how… …another one drops into the ground; soft marble and hard eyes to weigh him down, with a modified Chevy emblem… …comes the zoo man, comes… …and the two shall become one… Oh see how comes the zoo man with the red stained glass eyes, how he torches… …how the zoo man torches hair from off the sad, brown elephant’s back… |

This a poem that I wrote a LONG time ago....in 1968 to be exact....and posting now out of pure cantankerousness (is that a word??)-- and because I just ran across it in an old notebook! ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸ ¸¸ºº> ~~~(¸¸ER¸¸ºº> ______________Ratleader______________ |

And you recognized it? Cool find and thanks for sharing. So you were what, 10 years old? If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. |

Ed...I'm so glad you posted this! It is so sad that they treat that magestic animal in such a way. I had no idea until you told me. Thanks! |

In some ways, knowing this was written a long time ago makes it even more impressive. For I've watched your talent grow exponentially over the last few years... but it was obviously immense to begin with! *S* The way you weave the scenes magnifies the power and poignancy of each ritual even as you expose the harshness. Superb work, my friend. *S* |
