your eyes leaking effortlessly staining your face with smudged black lines from the mask you hide behind everyday you wake up avoid the mirror until you've got your face fit snugly back on you feel comfortable the gentle folds of your daily mask know you very well you manage a smile a nod of satisfaction as you leave to start your day exposing to the world nothing they haven't seen before until you return only to wash it all away with your flowing tears guiding paths to who you are underneath the unfamiliar mask can you find me space inside your bleeding heart? |

I love the feeling this conveys. I feel as though I've been the girl in your poem before, trapped by monotony, unknown and misunderstood. The imagery was great. Detailed enough to get your point across, but vague enough to be one size fits all. Thanks for sharing. Alicia |
