I propose a toast ~ So grab a glass in each hand and hold them under each eye... The first thirteen years were grand ~ A childhood story that painted the true Portrait of a perfect family... Meeting the kid across the street ~ Then the young beautiful mom who showed More interest in you than anyone else. And why not? ~ She flaunted herself to you while her Third shift husband slept inside. The infamous pool shed of demise ~ She introduced you to physical fun and To a world of man made euphorias. It was a dream come true ~ Until you got bored of the routine And tried to end the liberties of the indecent. It cannot end ~ For your family's life might not make it If you choose to talk or walk. You finally choose ~ And after courts and tears and scars It's time to regroup and refresh. There comes a wife ~ And a bit later, a beautiful child Yet only you know the demons still lurk. The euphorias of the past ~ Never left, and one happy moment too many Your body cannot take it any longer. Three years later ~ Your daughter still could not understand Why God chose to take her father away. It makes me cry out ~ She's afraid of forgetting what you looked like And is anxious to play with you in heaven. Both of my glasses now full ~ It's time to drink to the finale's truth The words of a six year old to ding the crystals "I know now why ~ Daddy had to leave because he had a perfect love That was needed more up there than here with me." Lose one friend... Lose all friends... Lose Yourself... |

Sometimes I wish my dad were dead so I see the anger issues in the child, the adult has to feel like crap, and I understand that too. Its like when your girl is pregnant and takes a bunch of pills just to kill it, when all the while you were telling her to take a hike. I totally understand. Nice poem. -GIS He has made everything beautiful in its own time. -Ecclesiastes 3:11 |

Geesh... Will you wipe away the tears? Is this a true to life? "So give life to your dreams, for there lies your survival, and cast your heart beyond those faded scenes, and I'll bring you through the storm |

News...it is a true to life. I received a few responses to my "Remembering Jonathan" poem that asked more personal questions about who my brother that died so unexpectedly was. This was my attempt at giving those who did not know what he was going through a glimpse, albeit small, into the tragedy that was his life. Resentment? yes... Admiration? No question... Loss???..If you read the archives, re-read "God Has A Champion With Him Now" and you'll know how I eulogize any beautiful person that leaves us before we're ready. Thank you. Lose one friend... Lose all friends... Lose Yourself... |

the intro requesting the listening (or reading) audience to hold a pair of glasses up to their eyes... that was too cool. and i didn't see the significance until the daughter gave the dinging toast. then i wish i had a glass under each eye. this was too much, purity. i'll always need a friend, one i can defend. |

Having had my best friend just lose his daughter this week, It sorta hit me hard when I found this one again. A Perfect Love. But the children should not leave before the parent. It screws the grand scheme. In your poem, the father leaves the child, but I gather at a very young age, and thus his parents had to endure the same warped scheme. Life is strange. This is sad. "So give life to your dreams, for there lies your survival, and cast your heart beyond those faded scenes, and I'll bring you through the storm" |

Thank you both for responding, Alli and Coyote. This one was hard for me to transcribe. And News, I am truly truly in sorrow for your loss. I know you from afar, yet I'm as close as you ever need. Eve~you're a true jewel, eternally. Wings bruised from turning away in such confined space...Not broken...still healable...still feathered with life, somewhere |
