You floated on a soft white raft of cumulus clouds
over the spot where I wallowed

knee deep in my own Godforsaken moment,
wondering where to turn.

Shall I face directly into the wind again?
Can I withstand another onslaught,
or will the next little breeze
bring me to my knees,
begging for this pathway
to end,
somewhere?

No.
It’s not my style to sit and weep
for more than a moment.
So once again,
I’ll face the wind,
step forward once
for every two steps
I’m pushed backward.

I am more like the willow
than anyone thought,
and
I used to play with
Gumby and Pokey,
so I know about resilience.

Oh man, I was hoping it was gonna be about you turning into a claymation character and going on mishap and adventures :P

Cool poem, Would you mind sharing with me your views on writing this poem (ie what was your poem referencing to). To me it seems to be just a duality of past memories, and angst at the moment. But Im probably wrong, Im dull

Me too, and you know that is true

one step forward and two back still makes you 1/2 way there, so keep on trucking! You have NO idea how much Gumby has taught me over the years - great work Kacy.

Excellent write on the empowerment of perserverance, however, I must confess that I, too, was hoping for a little more in the venue of Gumbyism.
